TRIBUTE TO MARC O'REGAN

Marc O'Regan evacuates an elderly patient from a remote mountain village to a hospital via helicopter

Marc O'Regan was a dear friend and colleague. We worked together in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and then in Pakistan. A physician's assistant, former Navy Seal, acupuncturist, massage expert, trekker and outdoorsman, Marc's many talents and abilities were outshined only by his compassion for humanity and a brilliant smile that made an instant friend to all who had the pleasure of meeting him.

Marc O'Regan co-founded CDRS with me and had planned to return to Pakistan to continue his life's work of healing people, building bridges for bringing humanity together and lighting the way to a better world.

The young men who worked with Marc in Pakistan have built a stone memorial spelling out Marc's name on a beautiful mountainside in Kashmir. They are the same young men who were unable to hold back their tears on the day Marc left Kashmir. They learned so much from Marc on how to be a man and what it means to serve the greater good. I will never forget how they all crowded around him, hoping to shake his hand and touch him one last time before he climbed into the van, then began running alongside the van with their hands on the windows until they couldn't keep up anymore, then finally waving to Marc and straining to catch one last glimpse of his ever present smile as he disappeared into the evening mist.

I am convinced that the indelible impression he left on those young men will pay huge dividends to Mankind in the future. Their devotion stands as a testament to how much Marc was loved and respected by everyone who knew him in life.

I'll miss my friend, but Marc's legacy and spirit lives on. The staff of CDRS will never forget him. Our mission is forever dedicated to the memory of Marc O'Regan.
